The Texas Public Policy Foundation and the Mercatus Center at George Mason University will co-host a retreat that will provide legislative staffers with an academic perspective on today's pressing policy issues.
Capital Campus Texas will return for its second year with an all new agenda exploring the most pressing issues facing Texas. Designed for legislative leaders and staff, Capital Campus Texas provides an unique educational program providing an in-depth look at the intersection between economics and public policy. Each session during the two-day program features nationally recognized scholars on issues including natural resources, higher education, regulatory policy, and transportation.
The retreat is designed to bridge the gap between academic theory and practice: participants will receive an in-depth understanding of the interaction of law, economics, and public policy and then reflect on how these lessons could better inform Texas policy makers in their daily work.
Participants can expect:
- Opportunities to meet and discuss ideas with prominent scholars and new colleagues from all areas of state government and from both sides of the aisle;
- Scholar-led conversations and interactive sessions with fellow colleagues;
- Specific discussions on the role economics play in public services, higher education, natural resources, and the regulatory process
- The chance to acquire innovative tools that will help decision makers better analyze public policy.
