Biography
Gary Richardson holds the Duncan Black Chair at the Mercatus Center and is also a professor of economics at George Mason University.
Prior to joining the Mercatus Center he was Assistant Professor of Economics at the University of California, Irvine. He has held previous positions as a Research Fellow and Lecturer in the Department of Demography at the University of California at Berkeley, and as a lecturer at UC San Diego. He also worked as a writer and researcher at Citizens for a Sound Economy prior to attending graduate school. His research interests include European economic history, banking, the Great Depression and the economic history of religion.
Dr. Richardson earned an AB in political science from the University of Chicago and a PhD from the University of California, Berkeley.
