David C. Marlett is an affliated senior scholar with the Gulf Coast Recovery Project at the Mercatus Center at George Mason University. He is the Director of the Brantley Center and Assistant Professor at Appalachian State University. His primary research interests include insurance principles, property and liability, and risk management.

Dr. Marlett received his Bachelor of Science in Risk Management and Insurance from Florida State University in 1990. He returned to Florida State University in 1993 to enter the doctoral program. His major area of study was risk management and insurance, with a support area in finance.
