Join us for an opportunity to explore innovative ideas related to California's most pressing public policy issues.
The Berkeley Center for Law, Business and the Economy and the Mercatus Center at George Mason University will co-host a weekend event that will provide policymakers with an academic perspective on today's pressing policy issues. Retreat participants will walk away with tools for better decision-making and an improved understanding of the interaction of law, economics, and government in California.
The two-day session will include:
- Keynote addresses from the Honorable Tim Roemer, former U.S. Congressman and member of the 9/11 Commission and Todd Buchholz, former Harvard professor and former national economic advisor.
- Discussion of the effects of California’s enterprise zones and other economic development policies designed to capture the potential of emerging domestic markets.
- Exploration of California’s ambition to be the model environment for “green” business and its implications for the state’s global competitiveness.
- The chance to discuss ideas and policy with colleagues from both chambers and from both sides of the aisle.
