Lawson Bader was a vice president at the Mercatus Center. He was a key advisor and strategist for all of Mercatus’s outreach and research programs, which use a wide network of scholars to teach and train congressional staff, senior agency officials, and policy makers to use economic analysis and market process tools to improve legislative and policy outcomes.

 Before coming to Mercatus in 1996, Mr. Bader spent nearly ten years in the policy arena. He did a tour on Capitol Hill as a staff member with the Senate Veterans Affairs Committee; analyzed trade, environment, and energy policy for the law firm Pierson, Semmes & Finley; managed government relations for SRI International; and served as a senior policy analyst for the Washington International Corporate Circle.

Mr. Bader received his BA in political science from Wheaton College (IL) and MA in public policy from The Johns Hopkins University.
