Biography
Werner Troesken is the F.A. Harper Professor of Economics at the Mercatus Center and a professor of economics and history at George Mason University. His areas of specialization include demography, economic history, industrial organization, law & economics, political economy, and public health.
Prior to coming to the Mercatus Center and George Mason, Dr. Troesken was a professor in the history department at the University of Pittsburgh. He has held previous positions as a national fellow at the Hoover Institution, a senior investigator and project leader at the Center for Population Economics at the University of Chicago, and as co-editor of the journal Social Science History. He also currently sits on the editorial board of the Journal of Economic History.
Dr. Troesken earned his BS in economics from Marquette University and his MA and PhD from Washington University in St. Louis.
