Robert Krol is an emeritus professor of economics at California State University, Northridge; a Senior Affiliated Scholar for the Mercatus Center at George Mason University; and a member of the Heartland Institute’s Board of Policy Advisors. He also worked as an economist at Security Pacific National Bank in Los Angeles and the Milken Institute in Santa Monica, California. He received his PhD in economics from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale in 1982.
His current research focuses on immigration, transportation infrastructure issues, international trade & investment, and the impact of economic policy uncertainty on the economy. His research has been published in leading economics journals, including the Review of Economics and Statistics, Journal of Econometrics, Journal of Urban Economics, Regional Science and Urban Economics, International Finance, and Journal of International Money and Finance. He has published policy papers for the Cato Institute, Center for Growth & Opportunity at Utah State University, and Mercatus Center. He wrote a piece for Discourse Maganize titled "Biden's Infrastructure Package is a Bridge Too Far" in April of 2021. He has also published opinion articles in the Los Angeles Times, the Washington Times, the Cleveland Plain Dealer, Investor’s Business Daily, U.S. News and World Report, The Hill, Real Clear Markets, Real Clear Policy, economics21, and National Review Online.
