Annjulie Vester is a PhD student in Political Science at the University of California, Santa Barbara. She earned an MA in International Relations from The Pennsylvania State University and a BA in Political Science from Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University. Her research focuses on domestic monetary politics during armed conflict. In particular, she examines how rebel groups create their own currencies, monetary institutions, and monetary policies or challenge those of the state during armed conflict, as well as how such rebel monetary governance affects the outcome of war and post-conflict reconstruction.
