Hasina Jalal is a PhD student in Public and International Affairs at the University of Pittsburgh. She earned an MA in Global Human Development from Georgetown University, an MA in Women & Gender Studies from the University of Nothern Iowa, an MBA from American University of Afghanistan, and a BA in Economics from Jamia Millia Islamia University. Her research studies women in Afghanistan. Specifically, she is interested in how women-led social movements resist Taliban control in Afghanistan and in the Afghan women's perspectives on how the various international sanctions affect their lives.
