Senior Affiliated Scholar
Omar Al-Ubaydli is a Senior Affiliated Scholar at the Mercatus Center at George Mason University, a senior fellow at the Bahrain Center for Strategic, International, and Energy Studies, and an affiliated associate professor of economics at George Mason University.
He was also a member of former Virginia governor Bob McDonnell’s Joint Advisory Board of Economists. He specializes in experimental economics, political economy, the economics of science, and the economics of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.
Al-Ubaydli has published numerous papers in peer-reviewed journals, including PLOS Medicine, and his research has been covered by the Economist and Newsweek.
Al-Ubaydli received his MA and PhD in economics from the University of Chicago and his BA in economics from Queen’s College (University of Cambridge).
